    Farmer Training

    Aspiring farmers built their own farm business in a supportive environment, alongside other beginning and more experienced farmers. This highlighted the need for creative land access programs.

    Illinois FarmLink

    Northeastern Illinois FarmLink grew into a statewide initiative and with our partners, The Land Connection.

  • Community Food Systems

    Grow Lake County

    We connected people to healthy food and supported grassroots local food organizations. This work is embodied in the Liberty Prairie Farm Store.

  • Hands-On Education

    Prairie Farm Corps and the Learning Farm

    Today, the Living Laboratory, our outdoor classroom, serves school districts, groups, and families.

  • Prairie Crossing

    Premier Conservation Community

    Incorporates new urbanism, transit-oriented, scaled production farming and conservation concepts, working toward connected and sustainable living.

  • Liberty Prairie Reserve

    2013-2023 Master Plan

    This interwoven network of healthy lands, wildlife, and people reinforces conservation in Lake County.
