Ah, farming in August. The fields are brimming with summer crops while fall plantings get weeded and steadily grow. Our organic inspection was accomplished (hooray!) and we await our 2025 certification. The rhythm of late summer signals a time of rapid transition—preserving the harvest while preparing for cooler weather ahead.

Winter CSA Returns. We’re reintroducing our Winter CSA program this year! This six-week program, starting in December, will include fresh, stored, and frozen produce. Students will get hands-on experience with harvests, packing, and year-round growing. We’ll share more information, registration details, and pricing by early September.

Tomato Harvest. Our tomato harvest looks bountiful, and we’ll soon offer bulk cases perfect for canning, salsa-making, and fresh eating. You can expect this availability announcement within the next week or two, so prepare your recipes and watch your inbox for the order link.

Learning Never Stops. Jeff’s Engineering a Sustainable Future classes return to the farm every other day, bringing excitement, some nervousness, and curiosity. Students will tackle fall gleaning projects, plan the fall festival, and prepare for spring chicks.
Our conservation grazing project proved so successful that Jeff’s high school interns will study this work in the fall. Animal Husbandry Interns learn livestock care to gain hands-on experiences towards careers in healthcare, veterinary medicine, and agriculture. Conservation grazing project also opens doors to explore careers in firefighting, research, and forestry.
Finally, the District 127 Spanish language, culinary, and geometry classes are already making plans to return to the farm as their canvas for learning this fall, too.

With all that’s ahead, we’re committed to staying present and connected to this land. By slowing down to share the farm with others, we can experience this connection together. We welcome you to the farm this fall. There’s much to appreciate—both now and looking ahead.
Your farmers,
~ Jeff, Jen, Anacleto, Miguel, Saul, David and Cleto
