Trevor Stephenson – Early Music Series 2017-2018
4 p.m. Sun., Mar. 4 at the Byron Colby Barn
Harpsichordist Trevor Stephenson will perform selections by three baroque masters: J. S. Bach, George Frideric Handel, and Domenico Scarlatti. For this concert, Dr. Stephenson will bring a double-manual harpsichord modeled after a 1720 instrument by Mietke of Berlin—historically, we know that J. S. Bach purchased a harpsichord from Mietke around 1719! Selections on the program include Bach’s “Capriccio on the departure of a beloved brother,” two Preludes and Fugues from the Well-Tempered Clavier, Handel’s Suite in E major (which contains the “Harmonious Blacksmith” variations movement), and four Sonatas by Scarlatti.
