Third Coast Baroque – Early Music Series 2017-2018

4 p.m. Sun., Nov. 12 at the Byron Colby Barn

Led by Argentina-born and Vienna-based conductor Rubén Dubrovsky, early music specialists from Chicago’s critically-acclaimed Third Coast Baroque  welcome you for an afternoon of intoxicating rhythm and enchanting harmonies. Voices combine with period and folk instruments as Maestro Dubrovsky illuminates how the dance forms of the chaconne, passacaglia, and sarabande found in European Baroque music have their roots in Latin American and African folk music. With works by Barbara Strozzi, Henry Purcell, André Campra, and other composers from the long 17th century, you don’t want to miss what Chicago Classical Review calls “emotionally compelling and educationally edifying.”
