shannon_editedShannon joined the Liberty Prairie Foundation in 2015 as a Prairie Farm Corps crew leader and is now a Production Specialist and Farm Educator. She has a B.A. in Biology from Carthage College and a Technical Certificate in Urban Farming from Gateway Technical College. She co-founded Down to Earth Community Garden in Kenosha, WI and currently serves as the vice president, facilitating workshops, events, and fundraising.

Shannon gained valuable experience leading teams of youth through 7 years of working at Six Flags Great America. She is passionate about the potential high schoolers offer to learn, grow, and lead in the future. She firmly believes in local food systems and the way farming and growing food can heal people and the land.

She is very excited to bring her skills to a second season of Prairie Farm Corps, allowing her to make a bigger difference in the lives of young people, and to continue to grow as an organic farmer. Shannon plans to use her experience through the program to start her own non-profit, farming domestically and abroad to help combat hunger.

Shannon works for the Liberty Prairie Foundation in a part-time capacity. She can be reached at shannon(at)libertyprairie.org. Her office is located in the Yellow Farmhouse.
